Kent Swimming Championships: Important Safeguarding Information

26th February 2025

Following a significant increase in the number of swimmers that are having photos/videos taken of them under/over changing cubicles, the Swim England National Safeguarding Team have asked for additional procedures to be put in place to protect our athletes. Therefore, the following procedures will be in place at the K2 this weekend:

  • The changing village will be separated into areas for male and female swimmers. This will be clearly signposted.
  • Swimmers are not permitted to take any electronic devices into the changing village unless they are switched off at the bottom of their bag.
  • Coaches and volunteers must keep their phones in their bags / pockets when they are walking through the changing village.
  • Volunteers will be patrolling the changing area to ensure compliance with the new regulations and anyone found not following the rules will be reported to the National Safeguarding Team and asked to leave the centre immediately.

Please make sure all swimmers competing this weekend are aware of these rules, as a lack of knowledge will not be considered a valid excuse should they be caught not complying with them.
