Long-time Kent Official - Trevor Oliver
12th January 2025
Trevor Oliver, passed away on 21 December, after a long period living with Parkinson's and dementia. Prior to his diagnosis he was heavily involved in officiating in Kent, starting when we (his three elder children) all swam with Orpington Ojays. He not only volunteered as a timekeeper and Judge but also took on organisational duties for Kent ASA, assigning officials to various events.
He really enjoyed being involved, culminating in volunteering at London 2012, and it was great to see him pursue his officiating even long after we had stopped competing. His health conditions meant his lost touch with a lot of people as time passed, but I know he valued the friends he made during this time.
I'm sure my dad would want to wish you, your colleagues, and the organisation all the best for 2025.
Emily Oliver
Trevor was a Referee when I started officiating, and he was well known and respected as an Official. He was always approachable with a friendly gentle manner, and was missed when he stopped officiating.
